The Belth's invited us out to their place for dinner on the 4th and to join them for fireworks. It was a nice evening at their place, with plenty for the kids to do. Caleb had brought up his lego sets, one of which had a train in it. Of course he was a happy camper. He and Caleb also played with a toy gun (Ethan would shoot Caleb and he would fall down dead). We had a nice dinner then went outside, played on their playground, played with the cat (who was chained to a tie down, so funny), and played kickball.
It was getting dark and we started to finalize where to go to the fireworks. We called Dad to see were the best spot would be to view the IPFW fireworks. It got a little confusing but to make a long story short we were all walking (quickly) across campus trying to make it before the fireworks went off. Andrew was on the phone with Dad getting directions as we were walking. When we finally made it to the pedestrian bridge (Ethan has wanted to go in the "tunnel" forever) I say the lights of a Kubota coming out of the bridge. I knew it was Dad. He comes racing through the road block and crashed into one of the gate, which broke the gate. Ethan thought that was just great. Dad went down the hill and turned around and almost flipped the Kubota. He then picked up Elisea (in her carseat) and put her in the Kubota next to him. The rest of us moved on through the tunnel. As we cleared the opening I look back to see Mike and Andrew running out of the tunnel with the Kubota lights on their tails. It was like a scene from Indian Jones. We all made safe and crashed the Chancellor's party.
The fireworks were great and everyone had a nice time. Great memories!
