We are just plugging away around here. Our mornings and early afternoons are pretty busy with school. Ethan and Elizabeth are doing great and we in our 10th week.
Ethan went through a little bit of a slump last week, but he is right on track this week. Elizabeth can clearly write her whole name now and she is almost done with her first preschool book ("the yellow book"). Elisea is a little bit of a distraction for a few of us, but insists on being in the school room with us. I love having all my "students" in the classroom even though it is a lot of work most of the time. Elisea really spends more time being disciplined then in "school". I do love hearing her sing our hymns and say the verses with us. She is a lot like Ethan and picks them up very fast. Speaking of hymns we started our 3rd hymn this week "It is Well". We also have learned "Solid Rock" and "Nothing but the Blood". The hymns have such great doctrine and as we work through each verse we talk about the truths God has for us.
Our Bible time each morning has been very rich and I'm praying that especially Elizabeth is starting to remember some of the stories and truths. At bedtime Andrew is going through the Sermon on the Mount with the kids; verse by verse. Treehouse at church has challenged us with some great verses in addition to the verses we are memorizing for school. I hear Ethan saying his verses all day and it just thrills my heart that he has such a love for God's Word. Elizabeth has been singing our hymns and Psalm 1 song in addition to saying her verses throughout the day. They both treasure the Word!
A few weeks ago I got a used jogging stroller. The kids and I have been going on bike/runs each day as well. It has been a nice way to get break up the day. I think as the weather gets colder the kids won't be so excited to go. Last week we were able to watch a combine in the field for a little while on our run/ride. Today we went to the bike trails and had a nice 40 minute run/ride. Elizabeth did great since the most she usually does is around 2 miles.
We have also been spending a lot of time with our friends the Overholts and Wolfes. They are such a blessing. We went to the Zoo 2 weeks ago with the Overholts and the Smiths on a beautiful fall day. Last week had a trip to the apple orchard with the Overholts and the Wolfes. This week we are having some friends over for apple butter making party. The kids love getting together with their friends and the fellowship for us (adults) is so sweet.
