We had a great time last night! The weather was perfect 65 and sunny. After Andrew went for a run and we had dinner on the patio, we spent the rest of the night outside as a family.
Andrew, Ethan, and Elizabeth went for a ride around the muddy woods and had a redneck good time. They even "cleaned" of the tires in the ditch on the way back in. Ethan thinks he is a big boy riding on the back, like a big boy. Elizabeth was all grins, except when Andrew when in the hole in the woods. He said she got a little nervous about the tipping motion.
After the redneck mudding party, we played a little softball/baseball. Andrew is planning on playing on the church team, so he thought he should practice a little. Ethan thought this was a really good idea, especially the bat part. Andrew very patiently showed him how to stand, hold the bat, and swing. Ethan was so proud of himself when he hit the ball (with a little help from Daddy). Needless to say, Andrew only got to practice hitting twice. He really enjoyed playing with Ethan and Ethan had a great time hitting and throwing the ball. Then I remembered I had one of those kids plastic bats, which would be easier for Ethan then the wooden bat they were using. After we got that out it only took him about 3 times and he was swinging and hitting the ball all on his own. Now he was really proud of himself. Andrew threw a bunch more times to him, in fact Elizabeth and I went into do bath time and they were still playing. He came up the stairs talking so proudly about his hitting abilities and Andrew was thrilled to have Ethan excited about playing baseball with him.
Elizabeth also had an exciting evening. She was training to be a circus performer by flying through the air. I think it is right of passage that all children have to fly through the air off the swing, flip, and land on their heads. All of which the parents get to watch in slow motion, not being able to do anything about it. Of course she came up crying and with a mouth full of blood. After coming inside and getting a couple of M&Ms and a drink from the pumpkin bottle, she was good to go. I put her down and she waved and said bye as she started out to the sandbox. She is one tough cookie.
All in all a great spring night. We are hoping for more like that.
