FLOOD of '08
The pictures are pretty self explanatory, but we got a lot of rain this afternoon. It just poured twice.
Here are some of the highlights:
Between ours and the Johnson's house it was just below my knee.
The water was over the new bridge Andrew built and it was well above my ankle.
The side yard between ours and Gloria's was completely under water.
The ditch was up into the garden up to the second tomato plant.
About 2 inches of water standing in the barn.
Andrew went out to check the ditch right before dinner with both kids. It is a good think the Holy Spirit is with us because Andrew had a feeling I should turn around and check on them. Sure enough he turned around just in time to see Elizabeth stepping off the bridge and splashing into the ditch (which was just over her head). As he was jumping in to get her he was thinking, I hope the current doesn't pull her under the bridge. Luckily the Lord protected her and she came up o.k., just a little wet. I told Ethan next time grab her hand and tell her not to get so close. He said "I was just standing there", what a good big brother.
Ethan & Elizabeth were good helpers when we were trenching the barn. I'm not sure they new what they were doing, but they liked playing in the water and rocks with their shovels.
The night ended with baths in the pool.
Elisea is doing better today. The doctor called in some medicine for her head cold. She has slept most of the day. A side affect of the medicine.

Unbelievable rainfall! You guys have been getting hammered lately, it sounds like. Your Mom was just here and she told me that Elizabeth got pretty beat up last week. Melayna has quite the boo-boo as well this week as she fell out of the MIL's highchair and on to her face on the rocks and wood chips on Sunday night. Was rather scary!
