Pokagon Camping Trip

After the fourth celebration and church on Sunday we headed out for our last week of vacation. Pokagon State Park was the destination, more camping. It was a beautiful week. The kids had a great time biking, hiking, swimming, and playing in the dirt. The days were full of fun; wake up at 6:30 (well some of us), make breakfast, go for a bike ride, come back for a nap (again just some of us), eat lunch, go to the beach, make dinner, baths & bed, hunt the naughty 'coons.

Speaking of raccoons we had some issues with them at both state parks. It became the source of Ethan's teasing at Pokagon. When the kids were eating their dinner the first night Ethan dropped a piece of noodle on the ground. I told him be careful because the coons will come around if we leave food out. A look of horror came over Elizabeth face and she jumped down and started digging in the dirt for that piece of noodle. I think she was thinking they were going to come out of the woods right then. It did make for some long nights for Andrew and a trip to Meijer for a slingshot...Here they are eating...
can you see the look of terror on
Elizabeth's face?

Ethan is getting really fast on his bike, so we had some nice bike rides.
We also enjoyed some nice playgrounds. Elisea is getting around the playgrounds like a pro now. Of course Ethan and Elizabeth were happy to show her the ropes.
Elisea and I spent some time together while Andrew and the kids were on a bike ride.
Ethan and Elizabeth got to enjoy a pony ride. I asked Ethan if he wanted to go first or let Elizabeth...he took one look at the horse and said "Ah Elizabeth can go first" Elizabeth loved the horse ride and was most pleased to wear a pink helmet.
And of course the beach was a big hit. It was a really nice beach and everyone enjoyed swimming even though it was a little cold. Ethan is still a little fish in the water and the girls had fun playing in the sand. .
This was our last morning campingThe girls were up first...as usual
