Memorial Day of Memories

The morning started out kind of crazy, but as soon as we got outside everything was better. It was a hot sticky day, but the kids didn't mind that. Ethan wanted to ride his four wheeler with the new "trailer" on it. The trailer is really Elizabeth's little wagon, which she is not real happy about becoming his new trailer. Andrew hooked it up on Sunday and she stood in the yard pointing to her wagon saying uhh uhh. Anyway she decided on Monday that it would be a good place to get a ride. She climbed in and off Ethan went with her riding in the wagon, behind the four wheeler. It was so funny Andrew and I were cracking up.

We decided since it was a hot sticky day and we had finished most of the work around the house, we would head over to the lake. We needed to pick up Grandpa Bennett's old boat and a dresser that mom and dad are letting us use for Elisea. So, we packed real quick and head over to the lake. I was hoping the kids might nap on the way, but that did not happen. They were really good though and we had a nice ride over. Ethan was really quiet, just taking the trip all in. This is not normal for him because usually he is talking and asking questions about stuff most of the way. He did notice a few tractors in the fields and of course the train tracks, but he was mostly just worried about going swimming. Elizabeth was looking out the window and every once in a while would say mommy and point at something.

When we got there it was like mass confusion. It was lunch time, the boys showed up, and Elisea needed to be eat. We survived and then headed down to the lake for some playing in the sand and water. To say it was breezy is an understatement. It was really windy, but pretty warm. The kids had so much fun making holes in the sand to pour water in. They all had a great time and played down t there for about 2 hours.

After playing in the sand we decided to go up and get dried off and go for a boat ride. Even though it was really windy, everyone had a good time. Ethan enjoyed laying on the floor with Skyler and asking about 25 times "what is that thing in the water called", to which Skyler replied "a boye". Elizabeth tired to stay awake by walking around and not sitting with anyone too long. She also enjoyed watching the boats (especially the ones with dogs on them) and the the ducks ("quack quack"). Elisea was awake for the first half but then got a little fussy and just needed to be held to calm down. It was a nice ride to relax and enjoy the sunny weather. Ethan helped Skyler drive on the way back to the pier.

After we got back Andrew decided to get in a quick run, and of course Ethan wanted to go "swimming" again. Grandpa, Skyler, and Ethan headed down to the lake while Elizabeth stayed and had a snack and a little swinging time. When Andrew got back from his run he and Elizabeth headed to the lake. She was enjoying pulling her own wagon, that Grandma got her. Once Elisea finished her dinner we headed down just in time for Ethan to say I have to go to the bathroom. So up to the house we ran, dropping off Elisea at Great Grandma's on the way, then back down to the lake again. Andrew was in the water throwing buckets of water at the kids, to which they would say "get me get me". It was time for dinner so we headed up to the house for pizza on the grill and a birthday party for Great Grandma Bennett (81 years old).

Everyone had a really nice day. Elizabeth and Elisea only made it to the Trojan Track before she was asleep and Ethan only made it to Larwil. So, it was a nice quiet ride home after a fun day of playing with the kids. It is so fun to have days of just playing with the kids, without trying to get something done. Just enjoying them, because the time is going so fast.

Sunday was a nice relaxing day. We went to church on Sunday, Elisea was finally introduced to the church. Every other time Pastor Scott tried to introduce her I was feeding her. It was nice of him to keep trying. She had the hiccups during most of ABF, Jeanne Flegge thought it was so cute.

We got fried chicken for lunch and had that on the patio. The kids really wanted to play after lunch, but it was already 1:30 so they took their naps. Andrew took a nap on a blanket in the yard and I looked at the paper.

When the kids got up they played in the yard and then we played softball. After dinner we took a nice long walk. The kids were so cute playing in the wagon while we walked. They were really getting along well. Ethan kept saying give me a hug and Elizabeth was teasing by turning away. She is such a free spirit and really seems to enjoy life.
